The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has reacted to the recent tragedy that befell residents of Apiate at Bogoso in the Western Region after a gas explosion claimed the life of dozens of people.

Earlier this afternoon, news that trickled in suggested that a gas explosion in the community claimed the lives of dozen of people at Apiate, a suburb at Bogoso in the Western region.
According to reports by a journalist on Onua FM this afternoon, this disaster occurred as a result of an overtaking by a Fuel Tanker Truck on the road. The overtaking resulted in the capsizing of the fuel tanker truck leading to a massive explosion. This also happened at a fuel station. So one could imagine the kind of explosion.
Further reports indicate that the number of deaths can be estimated at over a hundred(100). Authorities are currently on their way to the scene to ensure law and order.
Well, the president of Ghana has reacted to the sad occurrence expressing his condolences to the residents who lost their families in the tragedy while wishing injured persons a speedy recovery.
Taking to his Facebook page, he wrote;
I have just received a briefing on the circumstances that led to an explosion in Apiate near Bogoso, in the Western Region, resulting in the loss of lives and the destruction of properties belonging to residents. It is a truly sad, unfortunate and tragic incident, and I extend, on behalf of Government, deep condolences to the families of the deceased, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery. The Police, Armed Forces and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are co-ordinating efforts to contain the situation, and I have also instructed NADMO to see to it that rapid relief is brought to residents of the town. Government will spare no effort to ensure a rapid return to a situation of normalcy for residents of Apiate.
