Former Ghana President and founder of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Jerry John Rawlings confessed snubbing the party’s flag bearer, John Mahama in the 2016 presidential elections.

Rawlings did not vote for Mahama, who was seeking a second term but instead gave his vote to Nana. Not Nana Akufo-Addo but his wife Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

He explained his decision: “I would like to make a confession. Was it 2016 when we went for polls? I voted for her. Whether I’ll vote for her again or not, I’m not going to say it. I voted for her because she deserved it, really,” he told Accra-based Asaase Radio.

Unfortunatley Rawlings’ vote was not enough to win Nana Konadu the elections. The elections was won by Nana Akufo-Addo of New Patriotic Party (NPP).
