Ex-President John Agyekum Kuffour has finally spoken on Former President Jerry John Rawlings’ death, says it came as a surprise.

In a statement he made on Sunday 15 November, 2020, Mr. Kuffour said Rawlings death came as a ‘thunderbolt’ to him, and his family.

Part of his statement reads;

“In this regard, whatever doubt persisted about his commitment to democratic rule became attenuated and earned him a legacy of contributing to the sustenance of democratic governance of our country till his demise.

“Even though it wasn’t always he and I agreed on many matters of state – I felt he was trying to do the best he knew and could under his peculiar circumstance.”

Nonetheless, former President Kuffour admonished that, Late Jerry Joh Rawlings is the president of Ghana who served the longest term in office since independence from 1957.

He also acknowledged former president Rawlings contribution to the country’s 1992 constitution is s the current democratic constitution in use by the country.

Mr. John Agyekum Kuffour added that, Rawlings has balanced place in the annals of Ghana, adding that Ghanaians are left now to mourn the late former president and to console his widow, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and their four children, Zanetor, Yaa Asantewaa, Amina and Kimathi.
