Member of Parliament for Asawase, Mr. Muntaka Mukabarak, has revealed that the decision of Electoral Commission to create Registration centres in all Senior High to register students is against the Constitutional Instrument (CI) 91 governing 2020 election.

He explained that the C.I 91 stipulate that the EC will need to gazette such decision 21 days before they start the registration.

According to him, the needful has not been done but the EC is starting the students registration in schools.

He stated that the C.I 91 is very clear that if you want to create a polling station, you would have to gazette 21 days before doing so.

“Now you are going to create polling station in schools but you have not done that the law governing this year’s Election, what do you want to do, You want to create confusion” he asked.

The Electoral Commission announced yesterday that it will start registering final year students today for voters card.

Their decision came up after they hold a meeting with the Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC).
