Shongwe revealed that the musician was taken to the hospital on Wednesday after complaining of chest related problems.

Narrating how it happened, he said;

“I can confirm that Malibongwe has passed away. We are here at Makiwane (CMH) with his wife. We later heard the news that he passed away. The whole this is still very fresh. I am still struggling to believe it.”

The musician started his music career in 1995 as one of the lead vocalists of the one of the once-popular East London based gospel outfit Youth with Mission.

He later opted out of the group after releasing seven albums to focus on his solo career. He released his first album, Umlilo, in 2002.

He later established his own music label Malibongwe Music Production where he released popular songs like Siyakudumisa, Taru Bawo and Calvary.
