In a report by South African news outlet, News24, the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) and the South African Cabinet have been urged to lift the ban on the sale of cigarettes and alcohol.
This is to move the country from the current lockdown restriction level to level two and the president, Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to announce the decision he has taken soon.
The report revealed that the president chaired meetings of the NCCC and Cabinet and it was discovered that the discussion mostly centred around the full reopening of the economy.
This comes after the reduction in the daily number of new Coronavirus cases in the country. The report also revealed that the discussion on the full reopening of the economy was first held on Sunday, at an extended meeting of the Forum of South African Directors-General (Fosad).
