The president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa has revealed that the sale of alcohol will commence this week.

According to the president, the sale will only be done at licensed premises and it will be from 10 am to 10 pm.

This comes after the sale of alcohol was banned as part of efforts to curb the spread of the deadly COVID-19 disease.

The second wave of the virus has really hit South Africa very hard to the extent that many people including prominent personalities have lost their lives.

Announcing the sale of alcohol, the president took to his verified social media handle on Twitter and wrote;

“The sale of alcohol by licensed premises for on-site consumption – such as restaurants and taverns – will be permitted throughout the week from 10am to 10pm.”

He added;

“Restrictions on the sale of alcohol will be eased. The sale of alcohol by licensed premises for off-site consumption will be permitted from Mondays to Thursdays, from 10am to 6pm.”
