Legendary Cameroonian striker, Samuel Eto’o Fils has announced his retirement from football after an illustrious 22-year playing career.

The 3-time Champions league who is now 38 years, began his career with Real Madrid and went on to play for 13 clubs including Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Everton, and Sampdoria.

In a short message on Friday night (Sept. 6), Samuel Eto’o who is regarded as one of the greatest African players of all-time announced that he has decided to retire after leaving Qatar SC earlier this year.

He announced his decision on his official Instagram handle where he posted a photo of himself with the caption;

“The End. Towards a new challenge. Thank you all, big love.”

He scored 56 goals in 118 appearances for his nation and was voted African Player of the Year four times, a record he holds with former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.
