It’s no new again after the African Giant Davido flaunted his “fall” track on Twitter after it was certified Gold in Canada few weeks ago.
What is Gold Platinum Certification?
The Canada Gold Platinum Awards was launched in 1975 with over 20,000 albums, single, digital downloads, ringtones and music videos certified over the past years. The introduction of the Gold Platinum was launched to award artist who work hard to get their tracks on the top and also fulfill all requirements laid down.

When an album, singles, music DVD’s and ringtones are certified after the artist’s apply to get their songs or albums certified. Proof of sales is required and audited before it can be certified.
How did Davido’s “Fall” Become Certified?
To be able to qualified for the certification of a song or album, an artist is suppose to submit an application. The Certification which includes the membership fees for Music Canada members and a submission through Gold/Platinum’s online portal. A non-member is charged $75. However, in order to get approval for certification one must meet the following criteria as follows:

- Digital/Streaming (a permanent digital download of a track or full album from Digital service Providers “DSP”)
- Physical (the sale of cassette tape, Physical CD and vinyl)
