The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been touting its achievement loudly in the build to the 2020 elections as the party seeks the mandate of Ghanaians to serve a second term in office.

Aside from the unnecessary noise they make premised only on few achievements they have chalked which have not even reflected in the life of the ordinary Ghanaians, they are behaving as though it’s their birthright to be maintained willy-nilly.

The arrogance with which they go about their reelection bid coupled with the impunity they brandish their weight about as though we owe them another four-term ‘by force’ is just nauseating. The intolerance of the NPP is another thing that makes it highly unattractive. You dare speak against the ills of the administration and party footsoldiers will ambush and insult the living hell out of you.

When John Mahama was in power, he accepted criticisms in good faith. NDC members never attacked divergent views from opposition members like what the NPP is doing now. Just like travel blogger, Akesse Sanza eloquently put it on his Facebook page, John Dramani Mahama was very tolerant and embraced all opposing views from his political opponents but the NPP is not doing the same. Just take a look at how they are even going about this Agyapa deal and you will get a clearer picture.

He wrote this on Facebook; ‘When I was criticizing and ridiculing Mahama, the NPP guys here were happy and saw so much sense in my posts. The way Mahama has suffered in my hands, only bloggers will know because Baffour Gyawu was an undercover satirist then.

It’s your turn and you no longer see sense in same posts. Be tolerant, cultivate some attributes of the NDC. They didn’t insult us like you are doing now. People are scared to speak. People are even scared to share these posts. This isn’t what we wished fsome

Actress Lydia Forson has also made a similar observation and voiced it out on her Facebook page. The fact the NPP feels Ghana belongs to them is just annoying and it’s high time they discarded that primitive mindset. Their administration has largely been hinged on disappointments as the change we all voted for has never materialized. In this country, once you start criticizing the NPP or the NDC- the lame and shallow minds will instantly align you to either party. As a Ghanaian, I’ve every right to express my views on the current happenings and not because I belong to the NDC. As a matter of fact, I’ve never voted before but this year, I’ll definitely vote to express my grievances through the ballot box.

The NDC has equally failed to live up to expectations. Mahama had his flaws and totally let us down in some aspects of his governance but at this point, he looks the best alternative. Equally his level of tolerance, huge infrastructural achievements and other notable things he did can make him win the forthcoming election despite all the noise the NPP is making.
