A man has named South Africa has a land which is alive with possibilities.
This man shared his story in the popular South African Facebook group, #ImStaying as he recounted his story.
Sharing his story, he wrote;
“#I’m_staying_because_SA_is_alive_with_possibilities.Allow me to share my story of inspiration.I finished my matric in 2007, got a first job as a security guard in December same year, failed to fund varsity in 2008 (girlfriend fell pregnant later in the year) got a piece job where my father worked in Afrocon construction (construction of Gateway mall) from February 2008 till October 2009 when I got retrenched. Next job was at a petrol station in Gateway Shell.
That’s where I kickstarted my professional career, worked there from 2009 November to 2012 February. During this period I was approached by my cousin to enroll for HIV counseling course in 2011, I did it and surprisingly I got a government job in 2012 March for a post in HIV counseling.
I continued to apply for posts within govt, then I got promoted to HR officer in 2013. In 2015 I decided to enroll for part time study at DUT in HRM, I finished the Diploma in 2017, I further enrolled at UKZN for post grad in 2018 and graduated again in 2018, did my driver’s licence, thereafter got promoted again in 2020.Im now in a process of commencing my LLB degree whilst simultaneously accruing experience. Gunning for Big things.
Currently working at developing business venture as part time thing, strictly not to do with Govt tenders, preferably technology based or to do with agriculture.I have never at any point Bribed someone for a government job, I have had many failed interviews myself.
One thing I’ve consistently done is to focus on learning everyday and to advocate for a better Public service and serve with integrity even when no one is watching me.Never been a saint myself, did all my Youth things, but remained focused and humble.That’s my reason for Staying. Because SA is alive with possibilities. Uzoyithola kanjani uhlezi ekhoneni.”
