Socrate Sarfo who is the chairman for the committee in an interview with Kwamena Sambani on the ‘Angel In The Morning’ show aired on Angel TV and Angel FM this morning stated there’s a law that govern the content television stations shows on their airspace and the committee will make sure the law will be enforced now.

He said the committee will now strictly enforce the law starting from 1st May and will classify every content and give the appropriate time suitable for it to be aired on the various television stations.

He mentioned contents like movies, music videos, television series, in house programs, advertisements, etc all needs to be classified and approved by the Film Classification Committee and given an appropriate time suitable to be aired on television.

This comes after most Ghanaian social media users stormed various social media platforms to protest against the influx of fake mallam and money rituals advertisements on numerous television stations in the country.

The National Media Commission (NMC) also received a heavy backlash from the public for licensing numerous television stations without monitoring the contents they telecast on their platforms.

Earlier this week during a court hearing, it was revealed the two Kasoa teenagers who allegedly killed a 10-year-old boy for money rituals was motivated by talking to a mallam they watched on television who told them to present some human parts and an amount of 5000 Ghana Cedis for him to make them billionaires.
