Former President, John Dramani Mahama has urged the current president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to bring the perpetrators of the Ayawaso West Wuogon violence to book.

Mr Mahama, who is seeking to win the presidential election for the second time made this known when he was giving his new year message to Ghanaians some few hours ago.

According to him, President Nana Akufo-Addo has a responsibility to secure the safety of all citizens and must resist the temptation to allow the use of violence to harm and intimidate innocent civilians.

John Mahama is of the view that Nana Addo must have anyone who is involved in the said violence face the appropriate sanctions.

He said;

“#2020NewYearMessage
President Nana Akufo-Addo has a responsibility to secure the safety of all citizens and must resist the temptation to allow the use of violence to harm and intimidate innocent civilians as we observed last year during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.
As a first step, I suggest he stops shielding the perpetrators of the violence at Ayawaso West Wuogon. He must have them face the appropriate sanctions.”
