A 48-year-old man is currently in the grips of the police after he was arrested for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
The man whose identity was not known at the time of the report was arrested on May 11 and he will appear in the Cala Magistrate’s Court soon.

This was contained in a recent statement released by the South African Police Service and it was revealed that police were patrolling in town when they spotted a suspicious minibus standing next to the road.

They then decided to stop and searched the vehicle and found a firearm with the serial number filed off and ammunition.

CALA – A 48-year-old suspect was arrested and detained for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition on Tuesday, 11 May 2021.
It is alleged that at about 22:00, police were patrolling in town when they spotted a suspicious minibus standing next to the road. They stopped and searched the vehicle and found a firearm with the serial number filed off and ammunition.
The suspect was detained and will appear in the Cala Magistrate’s Court soon.”
