A 35-year-old suspected human trafficker, identified as Rifkatu Kuraga has been arrested by the police after trying to sell off a 3-year-old child to a prophetess.

The suspect was apprehended after a complaint was submitted at the police headquarters, according to the command’s spokesperson, ASP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement released on Wednesday, December 1.
“On November 25, 2021, at around 20:00 hours, a report was submitted at Garaku Divisional Police Headquarters, Kokona LGA, Nasarawa State, regarding a missing three-year-old boy, and all efforts to trace his whereabouts proved futile,” he said.
“Upon receipt of the complaints, Police operatives attached to Garaku Division immediately swung into action and arrested the suspect, and the missing three-year-old child was rescued and reunited with the family“, he added.
According to a preliminary inquiry, the suspect kidnapped the boy on November 21 and transported him to Imo State to sell him to a prophetess before the cops found out.
The suspect has admitted to the crime, and efforts to apprehend the prophetess, who is still at large, are ongoing.
The suspect has been sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for further investigation, according to the Commissioner of Police.
