A female youth leader and political analyst from Kenya’s Tharaka Nithi county has expressed her dissatisfaction with the region’s lack of marriageable men.

Anita Nkirote, a single woman, said the number of husband materials in the region is frighteningly low since they have all resorted to alcoholism.

The University of Nairobi graduate said she searched for a husband material in Tharaka Nithi and even went as far as Meru county, but was unsuccessful.

On Thursday, October 7, Nkirote added that drunkenness was also leading to mental health concerns in the region during a Mt Kenya Foundation meeting with leaders led by One Kenya Alliance (OKA) leadership at Safari Park Hotel.

“This has bedevilled our young men to an extent some of them are not even married. As we speak today, I am not married. I have looked around in Tharaka Nithi and even Meru and it is a big issue,” she said.

The youth leader also urged the politicians to look into the issue of unemployment in Central Kenya.

“The issue of unemployment is caused by a lack of economic expansion. Our economy is not expanding at a fast rate as our young graduates. We are talking about the issues of internship and mentorship for our youth,” she added.

Meanwhile, in Nigeria, Actor Walter Anga has weighed in on the arrest of veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu, by the Nigerian Army after he was spotted in an outfit that had the Biafran flag on it.

Series of videos hit the internet where it was seen that some Nigerian army personnel were brutalizing and dragging the veteran actor for wearing a Biafran outfit; which shows that he is a pro-Biafran; a movement proscribed by the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to reports, the actor was dragged out of his car by the soldiers which had the inscription “Chinwetalu Films”. The car was then searched by the security operatives before he was manhandled by the soldiers who fired some shots to scare off the crowd which gathered.

In reaction, Walter Anga expressed sadness over the arrest while asking if the Nigerian Army can do what they did to Agu to any Northerner. He added that Northerners go unharmed even by wearing camo on the streets.

Reacting via his IG page, a displeased Anga wrote;

”A man that has spent almost his lifetime putting smile’s in every home even when you the man is out there struggling to put food on the table for your family. Can this be done to any northerner? Northerners even go as much as wearing camo on the streets….Na God go judge una”
