The Police administration in collaboration with the Ghana Navy, Army and Airforce has informed the general public on their imminent operation in lockdown areas as a humanitarian operation and not war against the citizens.

Speaking at the Ministry Of Information’s press briefing, DCOP Gariba disclosed that, the operation dubbed ” OPERATION COVID SAFETY “

is a joint force, set to ensure the effectiveness of law and order in the restricted areas in the region therefore people living in the areas should not panic for there will be no intimidation or brutalization.

“It is a humanitarian operation; not a war. We’re not going to intimidate anybody, we’re going to support to achieve the overall objective of the president of Ghana,” he said. 

He added that roads and other entry points into the restricted areas will have blockades and checkpoints. Security personnels will be deployed at static posts such as markets, shopping mall, bus stations etc to check irregularities. Colonel William Nortey added his voice saying, over 2,000 security personnels from the Security services will be deployed in the restricted zones to check law and order. Residents of the areas must comply and cooperate with the security measures to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus in the state.
