Yvonne Nelson did the New Patriotic Party (NPP), then in opposition, a huge favour when she masterminded the famous Dumsor vigil that highlighted the plight of Ghanaians as a result of the frequent interruption of power supply under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
Her ‘movement’ became so popular that she was given the revered tittle, Yaa Asantewaa in honour of the legendary Queen mother of Ejisu, Yaa Asantewaa who led the local people to rebel against the British centuries ago.
Her action did not sit well with the NDC and their supporters and up till now, they still bear grudge against her for her role in influencing the masses against them.
Unfortunately, the party that Yvonne stood up for has performed abysmally since they took office and the actress herself, unhappy at the rate at which Ghanaians are lamenting, took to Twitter to jab Nana Akufo Addo.
Her very good friend, John Dumelo, a known NDC supporter simply told his colleague, ‘I told you so’ whilst assuring her that everything will be alright soon.
Yvonne quickly used the opportunity to jokingly request for food items and other stuffs that will make her Christmas worthwhile.
She literally asked Dumelo to bring gari, rice and any other ‘cookable’ which can alleviate her woes since Nana Akufo Addo became president.
Yvonne, don’t worry. Things will get better soon. https://t.co/jeC3yErgBP
