Passengers from about five to eight VIP buses tried leaving the city before the stipulated time for lockdown but failed and had the worst day of their lives with the military.

About 5 to 8 VIP busses were stopped at a checkpoint on the Accra-Kumasi high way for flouting lockdown rules. The passengers from the buses were refused entry into Kumasi because of the lockdown. Passengers were made to sleep on the road as their punishment for disobeying order.

According to an eyewitness, she explained that most passengers were people moving from Accra to Kumasi and vice versa but upon reaching the checkpoint, they were made to sleep in the middle of the highway from 2:00am til dawn.
