According to police sources, the suspects went to the victim, who was working on a building at her late father’s home and told her to cease working right once despite having all of the proper documentation.

They then demanded GH10,000 from her as a digging charge, despite the fact that the victim had secured the necessary permits for the work. Workers and suppliers of building supplies at the construction site were also instructed to flee for their life by the suspects.

A statement released by the police says; “During the confrontations, the victim decided to film the incident. This infuriated the suspects as Asafoatse Aryee Obo pounced on the victim, pushed her to the ground, forcibly seized her Samsung mobile phone valued at GH₵1,250.00.

“He smashed the phone on the floor without any provocation, thereby causing damage to the phone. The suspects also demolished sections of the building under construction. This led to the arrest of the suspects,” the statement added.

After repeated police invitations failed, the suspects were charged with assault, inflicting unauthorized damage, and resisting arrest and rescue. They were arraigned in Circuit Court 8 on November 24, 2021, and remanded in police custody, according to the statement.

After they reappeared on Monday, they were given bail in the amount of GH80,000 with two sureties, and the matter was adjourned to December 16, 2021.
