For the dismissal of Nigerian international Victor Osimhen on the first weekend of the league season, he has received harsh retaliation from a number of quarters, but he has evaded additional punishment from his club.

Victor Osimhen received a red card during Napoli’s Italian Serie A matchday one match against newly promoted Venezia, but the club has decided not to penalize him.

Following a confrontation with an opposition player, the Super Eagles striker was sent off just 22 minutes into the game.

Despite playing with a man down for the majority of the game, Napoli pulled themselves out with two second-half goals to enable Luciano Spalletti’s side to start the season on a high note.

Osimhen has since been sanctioned by the league with a two-match suspension and a €50,000 fine. The former Lille player did not play in the Parthenopeans’ 2-1 win against Genoa last weekend. Following Osimhen’s manager and teammate’s denunciation, Napoli considered fining the 22-year-old.

According to Repubblica, as reported by Calcionews24, the Neapolitans abandoned the proposal, but cautioned Osimhen and his colleagues that if they left the club in trouble with their behavior in upcoming matches, they would face sanctions.

Furthermore, Mattia Grassani, Napoli’s legal adviser, has verified that Osimhen’s two-match suspension appeal was lodged with the proper authorities on August 31.

According to Calcio Napoli, Grassani confirmed to Calciomercato.com that the club’s legal team developed a 22-page dossier with videos and photographs of the red-card event, expressing certainty in a favorable outcome.

Napoli are hoping to have Osimhen’s two-match suspension reduced to one match so that he can play in the vital league encounter against Juventus following the international break.
