Ghanaian rapper, Edem has defended the reason why the lyrics of Ghanaian musicians predominantly revolve around s*x themes.
The rapper, in an interview on the Joy Prime, said artistes are a reflection of their society so it is not the case that they like to sing about se*x just for the sake of it.
He said:
“I don’t know why people still think that artistes are secular. It has to be an idea that people have to get rid of. Musicians are just creative persons are a vehicle to convey messages.”
“Every time all you represent is the effect of your immediate environment. When artistes are singing about peace, you automatically know it is an election year,” he said.
“So when people sing about sekz it means that is the true state of the country, when people sing about religion it means that is the state of the society”.
