The much-awaited #FixTheCountry demonstration is currently ongoing in the center of Accra with thousands of Ghanaians in red and holding placards.

The #FixTheCountry demonstration has been lingering for a long time after the police placed an order to stop the demonstrators with reasons that demonstrators will not adhere to the COVID-19 protocols due to the huge number of people who will get involved.

The Ghana Police Service took the campaign’s organizers to court and sought an injunction to prevent protestors from protesting in Accra. However, the court denied the injunction request. One of the convenors of the demonstration Efia Odo has however lost some form of interest after she was verbally abused on social media and also lost some endorsement deals.

As early as 4 am, some youth were seen gathered at the meeting point, Obra Spot where the demonstrations were scheduled to begin. Some elderly people have also been spotted at the demonstration grounds holding placards and singing alongside urging the government to fix the country.

Some of the placards read, “The country needs equality enough of the killings. Enough of the intimidation, enough of the borrowing. Enough of the police brutality. The police and the military need to be transparent. Fear the creator not this tyrant.”
