The Electoral Commission of Ghana has cleared the air over the comments made by an aspiring Member of Parliament concerning the halt of voters’ registration exercise at the Ketu South in the Volta Region.

According to the EC, aspiring Member of Parliament, Ms. Dzifa Gomashie made claims that the registration exercise at Ketu South. Viepe has been suspended to make way for the continuation of the Ghana Card.

However, in a press statement released on the matter, the EC has described the statement by the aspiring Member of Parliament as unfortunate and untrue.

“Not only is her statement untrue but it also has the tendency of causing unnecessary tension and disaffection for the commission and its staff,” it said.

The commission has however urged “eligible voters” who are yet to register to take advantage of the last phase of the registration exercise which ends on the 6th of August, 2020.
