The Electoral Commission has refuted claims that its outfit has imported faulty Biometric Voter Registration Devices from Nigeria into the country ahead of the general elections scheduled for November 2020.

The issue of the faulty biometric importation was first brought to the fore through an article one Owula Mangortey, from Odumase wrote on social media.

The Electoral Commission wishes to caution the general public to be wary of such dangerous elements in society who will stop at nothing to peddle malicious falsehood to misinform Ghanaians, tarnish its reputable image and create needless fear and panic in the country,” the EC clarified in a statement issued on Sunday January 26.

It added: “The Commission is by this statement assuring the general public that the allegations stated in the said article are false and must be disregarded.”

The EC further admonished the security agencies to get “to the bottom of this matter.”

The EC’s decision to change the voter’s register for this year’s election and its related matters have angered opposition parties, particularly the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
