Promising Ghanaian singer, Jackeline Acheampong, professionally known as Gyakie has urged his colleagues across Africa to channel their energies and talents to promote African music to the world than to compete with each other within the African entertainment space.

Speaking in an interview with Ghana Weekend TV, the Afro-pop singer stated that her craft has been projected to the world and other music lovers worldwide who did not know anything about her by her Nigerian fanbase.
The 22-year-old singer said that in addition to using the opportunity to market herself to Nigerians, she met some prominent people in the country’s entertainment industry, including Grammy Award-winning artist Wizkid, and shot a video for her “Forever” remix with Omah Lay, which has over 20 million views on YouTube.
“My Forever song was doing good out there (in Nigeria) but they hadn’t met me yet because of the lockdown. I went there after lockdown and the people fell in love with my personality, so it was a fruitful journey,” she said.
Touching on the comparison between the Ghanaian music industry and that of their counterparts in Nigeria, Gyakie stated that she sees nothing like a competition between the two industries but only different talents bringing out their best to project African sounds to the world.
“I believe that regardless of the country an artist comes from, they need to work on their individual goals and not be bothered about who is better,” she noted.
