The Founder and Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addei Odike has slammed claims that his political party was part of the 13 political parties in support of the compilation of new voters register.
His agitation comes after 13 political parties thrown their support in favor of the EC’s compilation of new voter’s register where his party was captured in the list.
Already, the UPP has been part of the 6 political parties including the biggest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) who has called on the EC not to compile any new voter register because to them is needless.
Akwasi Addei Odike said his party did not send any representative to the press conference held by the NPP government and some political parties to second the EC’s decision.
He added that his party still stands against the decision of the Electoral Commission (EC).
The founder of the party said the EC should use the National Identification Card which is the Ghana Card for this election because those with the card have already been verified instead of wasting taxpayer’s money.
Mr. Odike emphasized that the new equipment that was used for the Ghana Card should be used in the election and stop wasting money.
He believes that the NPP government and the EC are on the mission of spending the country’s money but not protect the public purse as the President does says.
Odike added that some of them will take a wired decision if the EC goes ahead to do the compilation.
He made this statement in an exclusive interview with GhGossip, Kofi Nkansah
