Perhaps to pour cold water on the campaigners of the trending ‘Fix the country’, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwesi Amoako-Atta has suggested that there’s nothing to be fixed.
According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been fixing the problems of this country created by John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since 2017.
He further added that there should be a national debate for a comparison to be made between President Akufo-Addo’s four years leadership and former president John Dramani Mahama’s eight years term.
According to him, the President has been fixing the country since he took over from Mahama, particularly, the roads sector. He noted that the NPP is fixing all the mess of the former administration under John Dramani Mahama.
His statement as quoted by the Ghanaweb suggests there’s nothing to be fixed as the clarion call by the masterminds of the Fix the country are trumpeting.
“All those who have been demanding that we fix the country, we have been fixing the country since 2017. The President of the Republic and the government have been fixing the country. The problems that the NDC could not fix, we are fixing them, particularly in the roads sector.”
“Let’s compare the achievements of the NDC in 8 years and that of Akufo-Addo’s administration which has only been in office for a little over four years,” he challenged.
The #Fixthecountry is designed to put pressure on the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) under the stewardship of Nana Akufo Addo. The campaigners want the government to bring the country back on track following the worsening economic conditions and decline in the living standards of the citizens.
In a related development, Frankin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa has said in a new post on Facebook that the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo has enough money to fix the country.
He further added, albeit sarcastically that the 77-years old ruler has suffered ‘muscle pull’ because he was in much hurry to fix the country when he attained power. He made the comment in consonance with the agitations that have erupted amongst Ghanais underpinned in the new political movement dubbed ‘Fix the country.’
