Former President John Dramani Mahama has plainly tell Separatists of Volta Region who are championing for Western Togoland independence that they own no part of Ghana or the Volta region hence, cannot claim for Western Togoland, if there’s any.

The Presidential Candidate of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama said this while addressing the people of Jinijini in the Bono Region on his campaign tour for 2020 general elections in the region.

According to him, Ghana is a Sovereign Country and no individual or group can claim to own a portion of it.

However, the action of the separatists is escalation over police control and some Ghanaians are calling for military intervention.

Mr. Mahama said Ghana does not promote ethnic divisions among Ghanaians and hence, these seccessionists must be stopped immediately as possible.

“Just a few days ago some unknown persons came to block roads claiming that Volta region is theirs so they want their independence. Ghana’s land belongs to Ghana,Ghana is a sovereign republic and nobody can claim a part of Ghana. When Rawlings built Ghana, we were all part. All of us come together to make Ghana so we cannot sit aloof and watch some people take Ghana. If it’s so, then everyone will trace their history and come for a part of their share which will not be a good thing. What brings us together is the fact that we are all Ghanaians.
