On the 28th of November 2021, the demise of the American Designer and the Chief Executive Officer of the Milan-based label Off-White, Virgil Abloh was reported on social media.
The news was first announced on the official Twitter page of Luis Vuitton as well as the Instagram page of Virgil Abloh. The American Designer was said to have died after battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma for several years.

In 2006, he graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) with a Master of Architecture degree. When Abloh was a student at IIT, a building built by Rem Koolhaas was under construction on campus, which sparked his interest in fashion. He designed t-shirts and wrote about fashion and design for The Brilliance while studying architecture.
The 41-year-old designer was said to have been diagnosed with cardiac angiosarcoma in 2019 and even with that, Virgil continued to deliver his normal duties by promoting arts, culture, and fashion as he was still undergoing challenging treatments.
Since March 2018, Virgil Abloh, an American designer, entrepreneur, and DJ, has served as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear line. Abloh is also the founder and CEO of Off-White, a fashion house based in Milan that he launched in 2012.
The trained architect who once worked in Chicago Street Fashion began his career in International Fashion by interning at Fendi alongside American musician Kanye West in 2019.
After that, the two began a creative relationship that led to Abloh’s foundation of Off-White. He was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential persons in the world in 2018 after being the first American of African origin to be the artistic director of a French luxury fashion business.

When his work on the cover art for Jay-Z and Kanye West’s album Watch the Throne was nominated for a Grammy Win for Best Recording Package in 2011, Abloh received his first big award.
At the 2017 British Fashion Awards, he won the Urban Luxe award. In 2017, he was named International Designer of the Year by GQ Men of the Year. His influence stems mostly from his work as the creative director of his own brand, Off-White, as well as his partnerships with Nike.
In 2018, Abloh was one of two designers included in Time magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people. Takashi Murakami, a Japanese artist, noted in the Time issue that Abloh’s remarkable achievements led to his nomination.
