British-Ghanaian actress and media personality, Ama K Abrebrese made a wild observation on Twitter after seeing the COVID-19 vaccine administered to the president by a nurse with her bare hands.
The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo became the first person to receive the first dose of the vaccine live on television. Shortly after, the vice presient, Dr. Alhaji M. Bawumia and his wife had theirs to prove to Ghanaians the conspiracy theories made about the vaccine was a hoax.
While the health official was injecting the vaccine into the arm of the president, she was spotted without gloves gloves and this spark some deliberations on social media after actress, Ama K Abebrese questioned the public if it was right to do so without following the given safety protocols.
“Wait…. why was the health practitioner not wearing gloves to administer the Covid 19 vaccines to the President and the First Lady of Ghana? Is this standard practice??, she asked.
A nurse by the name Kobby Blay answered her question on Facebook after it became the greatest concern of the people on social media. According to him, gloves are not recommended for most vaccination administration and are not required for the COVID-19 vaccine unless the person administering the vaccine is likely to come into contact with potentially infectious body fluids or has open lesions on their hands.
