Releasing an album is a totally different thing from the album being successful. For a music artiste, an album release might show how successful you have become in your music career but the success of the album is a whole new different thing.
Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale recently unveiled his album and slated its launch on the 12th October, 2018. Considering the amount of energy that went into the unveiling alone, there is no doubt that the album is a success already.
But can we state emphatically and conclude that the album will be a success?
Most industry players who have heard the songs on the album have shared their views on the album. They might have heard the songs and might think the album will be an automatic success, but will it be a success?
Most at times, songs are overhyped and when they are released, they couldn’t even live up to a quarter of its hype.
Considering many factors, including Shatta Wale’s fan base, the amount of energy going into promos, hypes and everything, ideally we are convinced the album will be a success.
Swaying away from the idealistic situation, the album might be a ‘flop’ in reality. We say this because upon release of the album, and the tracks don’t live up to its hype and expectations of the populace, then we can’t say the album was a success.
People have labelled the album that it will be full of ‘noise’, because of the kind of tracks Shatta Wale makes.
With the impending album launch drawing closer, all we have got to do is to wait patiently as we hope that the album will be a success so that Ghana music can be propelled to a whole new different level.
