IBF, WBA and WBO champion, Anthony Joshua has refused to fight boxing legend, Mike Tyson on his return to the ring for fear of being booed in the ring even if he wins the match.
The 53 year old former heavyweight champion of the world, “Iron” Mike Tyson announced his return to boxing and pinpointed Tyson Fury, UfC legend Tito Ortiz and the current heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua as the first he would like to fight in the ring.
Fury and Tito Ortiz are reported to have honoured the request but the British based champion, AJ has declined fighting the legendary boxer. According to him, the fans would boo him, should he win the bout and again, Mike is a legend with high reputation like Ali and he wouldn’t want to disrespect him.
“Even if I fought Iron Mike and beat him, I think I’d be the only one cheering. People would boo. He is a legend. He is the greatest boxer of the modern era. There are only two recognized champions the world knows of, [Muhammad] Ali and Mike Tyson, the most recognized faces in the world when it comes to boxing.”
