The 2022 BET Awards was held yesterday, Sunday, the 26th of June, 2022 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The prestigious award night which celebrates Black excellence in music, culture and sports was hosted by Taraji P. Henson for the second year in a row. The 22nd award ceremony saw high-profile act across the entertainment industry receive trophies for their work.

Top Nigerian Afrobeats recording artiste, Wizkid bagged an award for Best Collaboration with his chart topping tune, ‘Essence’ featuring his Nigerian sister, Tems and Canadian singer, Justin Bieber.

The Starboy Entertainment headline act was nominated in two separate categories; ‘Best Collaboration’ category and ‘Best Male R&B/Pop Artist’. Wizkid won the ‘Best Collaboration’ category but lost the ‘Best Male R&B/Pop Artist’ category to The Weeknd.
