After attempting suicide, the culprit was apprehended with the help of members of the Community. This happened just moments after setting the deceased on fire, leaving her with life-threatening burns that eventually killed her.
So far, a preliminary inquiry has shown that both the suspect and the deceased worked at a restaurant in Woe, but the suspect was released of her duties by the facility’s administration.
Further research revealed that Godsway suspected the dead of orchestrating her ejection from the eatery. As a result, she had warned the management to fire the deceased as well.
On January 11, 2022, at around 8:00 p.m., the suspect entered the restaurant armed with a gallon of petrol and diesel and a box of matches, poured the petrol and diesel combination on the deceased, and lit the match.
The victim, who was alone at the institution at the time, fought for her life until she was brought to the Keta Government Hospital for medical treatment, but she died the next morning at about 7:00 a.m.
While the investigation into the event continues, the suspect was charged before the Anloga District Magistrate Court today and remanded to appear in court on February 24, 2022.
