Limpopo, a province in South Africa has been left in a state of shock upon hearing the news of a 24 year old medical found dead in her room.
Police report states that they received a distress call on Sunday evening from the deceased’s friends to check up on a stench emenating from her room. They broke into the room and found Nkwashu’s lifeless body decaying in her bed. Her boyfriend has been arrested and charged with her murder.
The minister of health, Dr. Zweli Mkhize described the situation as horrific. The death of the young doctor has failed the community and people of Limpopo because she would have been their first professional doctor.
She said :
“I must say this is one of the most devastating stories, the loss of Shongile Pretty Nkhwashu, a young girl who would have been the first to doctor in her village.
“As department we were so excited to have been able to place every single doctor because they are very special, rare and have important skills for the country,”
The minister was accompanied to the hospital by Limpopo Province Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba where both updated Nkhwashu’s colleagues on how far police investigations have reached.
