In the midst of the judgment of the case between the two Rastafarian students, Tyron Iras Marhguy and Oheneba Kwaku Nkrabea, all journalists were ejected from the courtroom of the Human Rights Division of the Accra High Court.

This was revealed by Joy News’ Kwaku Asante who said that all parties were allowed to enter the courtroom with the exception of journalists.

According to him, the court clerk gave the directive and stated that he is acting based on instructions from above.

As it was reported in about two months ago, the two Rastafarian students, namely,  Tyron Iras Marghuy and Oheneba Kwaku Nkrabea were denied admission into the prestigious Achimota School due to the dreadlocks.

According to the school’s authority, it is against the policies of the school to admit students with dreadlocks so therefore, the students were asked to either cut down their dreadlocks or try their luck in different schools.

The news came as a discomfort to many on social media as they descend on the school’s authority over their refusal to admit the students into the school.

Some Ghanaian celebrities like Reggie Rockstone and his wife wo cut ties with the school over their decision to deny the students admission also lambasted the headmistress and anyone involved in the refusal to admit the student.

The Rastafarian students sought legal actions against the school, seeking the court to affirm their fundamental human right in the matter.

Details from the case indicated that the applicant was asking the court to declare that the refusal or denial to grant him admission based on his Rastafarian religion is a violation of his fundamental human right.

Tyron Marghuy was also praying for the court to declare that the order directed at him by the representative of the Achimota school to step aside during the registration process on the basis of his religious belief characterized by the keeping of rasta is a violation to his right to dignity.

Well, the Accra High Court has ordered the school to enroll the student to continue with his education without any interference.

The school is also to compensate the applicant for the inconveniences, waste of time and violation of his fundamental human right and freedom.
