Why did Adele Halt her concert during her performance in Las Vegas?

Adele paused her performance on Saturday in Las Vegas to intervene on behalf of a fan who was being accosted by security staff. Social media videos of the incident have gone viral.

The event occurred as Adele was performing “Water Under the Bridge” at Caesars Palace’s The Colosseum, where she has a residency. She spotted security addressing a fan in the audience while she was performing.

The fan in question can be seen rising to their feet to sing and dance along to the song in a video released by the TikTok account @adeleslittleloveee. A female security guard approaches the fan and strikes up a discussion with her, followed by a male security guard who asks the fan to sit down again. The fan says quietly, “I’ll stay calm.”

As seen in the video, Adele paused the music and addressed the security guard straight through the microphone. Adele may also be seen gesticulating towards the incident in a different video shot on Instagram and then shared on other platforms.

This isn’t the first time Adele has had to pause her performance to handle security concerns. According to the Evening Standard, she admonished a security worker in 2017 during a show in Melbourne, Australia, for urging fans to remain seated and stop dancing. Adele has also been criticized for canceling concerts in order to provide medical assistance to sick fans.
