Alejandro Garnacho is a Spanish-born Argentine international footballer who burst on the scenes for Manchester United in the 2022-23 season. Prior to becoming a poster boy for the club, he played for the academy and won the FA Youth Cup in the 2021-2022 season. Who is Alejandro Garnacho?

Alejandro Garnacho Ferreyra was born on 1 July 2004 in Madrid, Spain. He is the oldest of two sons of his parents Alex Garnacho and Patricia Ferreyra Fernández. He has a younger brother Roberto Garnacho who he grew up with.

Garnacho began his youth career in Spain, joining Getafe and then to Atlético Madrid from 2015 to 2020 before he joined the Manchester United academy in October 2020 for a reported fee of £420,000. He made his first-team debut coming off as a 91st minute substitute against Chelsea in a match which ended 1-1.

In July 2021, the Manchester United hierarchy handed Garnacho his first professional contract. Prior to that, he played both in the senior side and in the academy, showcasing his skills and raw talent. He made headlines in the FA Youth Cup, scoring a brilliant solo goal against Everton.

On 11 May 2022, Garnacho scored a brace which helped the team win the FA Youth Cup against Nottingham Forest’s youth team. At the end of the tournament, Garnacho won the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award.

Garnacho won donned the Number 75 jersey, changed it to Number 49 ahead of the 2022-23 Premier League season. He continued in the same fashion the previous season ended. He scored a last minute winner for the U-21 side against Barrow in the 2022-23 EFL Trophy.

Ahead of the 2023-24 Premier League season, Garnacho was handed the 17 jersey which was departed by Fred. On 26 November 2023, he scored a spectacular bicycle kick against Everton in a 3-0. That goal earned him the Premier League Goal of the Month for November 2023.
