What is Drake career?

In 2006, Aubrey, who was now going by his middle name “Drake” as his stage name, began releasing mixtapes, inspired by rap legends like Jay-Z who obtained record deals after becoming popular as independent artists.

He released his first mixtape “Room for Improvement” in February 2005 on his website and his MySpace page. He was able to sell almost 6,000 copies directly. The following year, he released his second mixtape, “Comeback Season.” He distributed the mixtape on his newly formed label, October’s Very Own (aka OVO Records). This mixtape included “Replacement Girl,” which became a hit underground tune. The song’s music video was the first to be shown on BET by an unsigned Canadian rapper.

One version of the song included a sample of “Man of the Year” by Brisco, Flo Rida, and Lil Wayne.

Jas Prince, the founder of Rap-A-Lot Records and a Houston-based producer, heard the song and recommended it to Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne was impressed and called Drake to invite him to join him on his Tha Carter III tour in Houston. Throughout the tour, Drake and Wayne created and recorded numerous songs, including “Brand New”, “Forever”, and “Ransom”.
