The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asawasi Constituency, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has indicated that any embassies who will boldly victimize Ghanaian MPs because of the LGBTQI+ bill will be closed down.

According to him, all foreign diplomats in Ghana should be careful of how they will handle Ghanaian MPs in the wake of the LGBTQI+ bill that is being discussed in parliament.

He made this known in a recent submission on Kumasi-based Abusua FM where he stated said;

“I can bet you if we identify any embassy that uses this specifically that because of this we will deny let’s say, Sam George or Hon. Muntaka a visa, we will organize a demonstration and close down that embassy.

Yes! You can’t come and impose your culture on us. You know in Ghana’s Constitution, you can’t hold any member of Parliament liable to any offense based on the person’s pronouncements in the Parliament House so if you want to use our positions on the LGBTQI+ on us, then you can’t be in our country.

We will have to demonstrate until the Foreign Ministry closes down that embassy. You can’t come and sit in our country and do what you want.

You can’t dictate to us. If they dare deny any of our MPs visas based on this, we will also ensure that nobody from their countries gets an entry visa to Ghana. We are sending a notice to the foreign ministry, be ready.”
