About Asamoah Gyan

Asamoah Gyan, born on November 22, 1985, is a highly accomplished Ghanaian professional footballer who previously played as a striker for Legon Cities FC and served as the captain of the Ghana national team.

Asamoah Gyan embarked on his football journey in 2003 with Liberty Professionals, a prominent club in the Ghanaian Premier League, where he showcased his skills by scoring ten goals in sixteen matches. He then made a move to Serie A club Udinese, spending two loan seasons at Modena and netting fifteen goals in 53 league matches, before scoring an additional 11 goals in 39 league matches with Udinese.

In 2008, Gyan joined Ligue 1 club Rennes, where he impressively scored fourteen goals in forty-eight league matches over a span of two seasons. In 2010, he made a significant transfer to Premier League club Sunderland, setting a new transfer record for the club and adding ten goals to his name in thirty-four Premier League matches across two seasons.

In 2011, Gyan embarked on a loan spell with Al Ain in the UAE Pro-League, where he proved his exceptional goal-scoring abilities by becoming the league’s top scorer, finding the back of the net 24 times in 27 matches.

The following season, he made a permanent move to Al Ain, once again claiming the title of the league’s top scorer while helping his team secure the UAE Pro-League championship, scoring an impressive 28 goals in 32 matches. Gyan continued his remarkable form in the 2013-14 season, scoring a staggering 44 goals in 40 matches with Al Ain.

Gyan’s impact extends to the international stage, as he holds the esteemed title of being the all-time leading goalscorer for the Ghana national team, with 51 goals to his name. Gyan’s international career also includes participation in the 2004 Summer Olympics and seven Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, namely in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019, where he played a crucial role in guiding Ghana to a third-place finish in 2008 and securing the runner-up position in 2010 and 2015. In terms of his personal life, Asamoah Gyan is happily married to Gifty Gyan. Together, they have been blessed with three children: Rafael Gyan, Frederick Gyan, and Floyd Gyan.
