Ghanaian politician and entrepreneur, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has made a case for ex-Black Stars striker, Asamoah Gyan, as Ghana prepares to go to the 2022 World Cup.

Ghana qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Abuja following an away-go advantage.

Ghana is in Group H where they will face Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea. Ahead of the all-important trip to the middle-east, Kennedy Agyapong who is the Member of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Assin Central, has vouched for Asamoah Gyan to be reinstated into the Black Stars team to mount the world cup campaign.

In an interview on Accra’s Happy FM, the maverick lawmaker articulated that Ghana will need Gyan’s expertise in the Mundial.

According to him, although Asamoah Gyan lacks sharpness, he believes his involvement in the team will help the Black Stars go farther in the World Cup.

“He’s a senior citizen, he’s a senior citizen…” However, he has the ability to encourage a squad, “he said. “Just his presence will make a difference, so sending elderly players over to inspire them may be a gamechanger.”

As a result, the importance of veteran players like Asamoah Gyan cannot be overstated; they must be deployed to raise the spirit of the younger players. But, based on what I witnessed in the games against Nigeria, I believe we have a chance to go far“ he continue
