Football management executive and boss of Tema Youth, Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer, has advised the GFA to incorporate ex-capta in of the senior national team, the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan into the squad that will represent Ghana at the FIFA World cup in Qatar but not as a player on the pitch.

Asamoah Gyan, who is the ex-captain of the Black Stars and had played in the World Cup tournament three times has been seen in a number of videos working out and training for the 2022 world cup after expressing interest in competing for his country.

The 36-year-old has been without a team since his exit from Legon Cities at the end of the 2020–21 season.

Wilfred Palmer suggests that Asamoah Gyan should go to the World Cup to inspire the players rather than compete.

“I will tell Gyan to allow us to go and do our business or he should go and inspire because he is a legend and that is what we lack in most of the tournaments.

“I have been to competitions several times (AFCON, World Cup) and what other countries do is, they bring their legends and are given special place because when the going gets tough, they will be there to support because of their experience, but we are not celebrating our legends and that is the whole issue,” he added.

Also, a member of the Black Stars Management Committee and King Faisal kingpin, Alhaji Karim Grusah, has asserted that Asamoah Gyan, is not fit to join the Black Stars for the World Cup.

Alhaji Grusah thinks Asamoah Gyan’s presence will endanger the entire team and argued that Asamoah Gyan could not even play for local premier league team Legon Cities for 20 minutes.

He couldn’t even play 20 minutes for Legon Cities. Asamoah Gyan can’t play,” Grusah said. CONTINUE READING…
