Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has a flawless record, according to North East Regional Minister Yidana Zakaria, which justifies his ascension to the role of President of the nation.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has acted honorably and has not been the subject of any accusations of corruption, according to Mr. Yidana Zakaria, demonstrating his integrity and character as a politician.

He asserts that being in a position of leadership in Ghana is a reward for good behavior, competence, and sacrifice, much like the Vice President has shown.

“I don’t think that in his (Bawumia) person and his service to mother Ghana you can tag him with such accusations like corruption. He has served the nation so well and if there was time for the Vice President to serve us even better, then he must be given the opportunity to serve us at the level of President. You know his track record. If it were just the case of seeking to satisfy his personal needs then he probably would have remained at the Bank of Ghana where he was doing so well,” he said in an interview on Dreamz Fm in Bolgatanga.

The Minister further claimed that the current economic difficulties the nation is experiencing cannot be attributed to Dr. Bawumia’s or the government’s abilities, pointing to a worldwide economic crisis from which Ghana is not exempt.

“The difficulties are not just situated within the Ghanaian context but globally. What do you want us to do, a nation that depends largely on the economies of the West to make it? A nation that imports more than we export, a nation where Ghanaians change the cedi into dollars not because they want to do business but just to go and keep in their rooms,” he added.
