Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stated that he would always chose the Ghana card and its contribution to data collecting over 1,000 road interchanges while making a speech at the Accra Business School on Thursday, July 7, 2022.
He said, “We have implemented a national identification system and today we have 16 million Ghanaians with unique identities and that is a major transformation. And sometimes a lot of people don’t even appreciate what the impact of the Ghana Card is.
But if you gave me 1000 interchanges and a Ghana Card, I will choose the Ghana Card because it is more impactful.”
Some social media users responded to the vice president’s remarks by calling the opinion ludicrous.
Since then, they’ve launched a social media challenge in which participants must solve all of their problems and make all of their purchases using the Ghana Card.
A female tweep identified as Saada stated that our leaders don’t value their citizens and a major factor that contributes to this is our level of illiteracy.
She wrote;
Bawumia said something stupid and people were clapping. Ghana Card over infrastructure? Chale in this country our leaders really don’t rate us and we have too many illiterates who are pulling us down and supporting things like this in the name of politics.
