Former black stars player and coach Kwesi Appiah has suggested that the issue of who wears the captains band at the black stars camp should be changed from time to time to avoid any misunderstanding with the players.

He said it is one of the major source of confusion at the camp as players fight over it.

The argument over who should be captain cost Ghana dearly at the 1992 Africa Cup Of Nation (AFCON) in Senegal.

According to Kwasi Appiah, the captaincy issue can affect the Black Stars in the years ahead if measures are not put in place to check the problem.

“Sometimes this captaincy issue comes as a result of poor communication from management members or certain people trying to push their own agenda.”

“Looking at our current situation I will propose we rotate the captain’s armband and also a general captain appointed to speak on behalf of the players. Brazil and other countries have made it work so we can also emulate them.”

“We should be careful or else this captaincy row can affect the national team for years to come”, he said.
