The Serbian has been dismissed from his duties after overseeing Ghana’s woeful performance in the 2017 AFCON in Cameroon. This comes after the Black Stars were whisked off the tournament after suffering defeat against Comoros.

It would be recalled that news emerged that the Ministry of Youth and Sports, headed by Hon. Mustapha Ussif directed the Ghana Football Association(GFA) to sack the coach and reconstitute the Management Committee of the Ghana Black Stars.

The decision follows an emergency meeting between the Ministry and the Association on Friday. At the meeting, they reviewed the Stars’ performance at the AFCON 2021 and discussed preparations for the 2022 World Cup playoffs.

In a statement released by the ministry, the ministry made it clear to the GFA that the people of Ghana have lost confidence in the capacity of the current technical team of the Black Stars to deliver success.

“Review the work and capacity of the present Black Stars’ technical team, led by head coach Milovan Rajevac,” the GFA was also told.

According to Joy Sports, the GFA was hesitant to fire the Serbian during the meeting because of the severance money the country would be responsible for — an estimated minimum of $270,000, which may climb to $370,000 if a sign-on charge is included.

The Sports Ministry expressed its displeasure with the senior national soccer team’s poor performance at the ongoing AFCON competition in Cameroon before the meeting.

Meanwhile, a statement confirming Milovan Rajevac’s dismissal will be released soon.
