This was after the authorities realized that out of a number of 1,191 cases recorded in the region, 420 of them are health workers.

Dr. Fred Adomako Boateng, Regional Director of Health Services, clarified that during the first wave, the area reported 788 positive cases over a seven-month span.

However, during the second wave of the epidemic, which lasted two months from January to February 2020, the area saw 408 cases, almost half of what it had seen during the previous seven months.

According to Dr. Fred Adomako Boateng, the rising in the number of cases in the city is due to a rise in testing among health workers and some residents’ disregard for COVID-19 safety protocols.
