The student is known as Tyrone Marhguy and he was refused admission to Achimota School because of his dreadlocks.

The matter has been in court for some time and the final judgement was given today. The school has also been directed to admit another Rastafarian student, Oheneba Nkrabea who was previously denied admission.

After successfully completing their Junior High School education, these two dread-locked students gained admission to Achimota School.

However, they are denied admission with the school saying that they can’t admit the students due to their hairstyle.

The Ghana Education Service gave a directive to the school to admit the students but that directive was boycotted by the school.

This generated some debate on social media with many Ghanaians question the school’s motive and the brouhaha led to the parents of the students taking the matter to court.
